The Mentee Podcast

You don’t grow from success. You grow from failure.

When we fail we’re discovering what doesn’t work, and we are taught what not to do in the future.

If you’re ready to hear more about letting go, moving on, and learning from failure, listen to episode 15.

My conversation with Steve Sims was powerful and inspirational. The energy and excitement he brings is absolutely contagious, and I loved every minute of it! Steve Sims is the founder and CEO of the luxury concierge service Bluefish. In 2017, he published a book, “Bluefishing: The Art of Making Things Happen.”

Steve shares with me more about himself, what he’s been up to, and how things are going with his consulting and coaching company. Steve tells me about the powerful moment in his life at age 15, where he saw the vision of his life. He talks about the effect that it made on his choices from that moment, and how he was ultimately able to break the cycle. He now helps others break the cycle by identifying their failures, keep moving, and take action on what they’ve learned from those failures.

We break down the key points in Steve’s book, “Bluefishing: The Art Of Making Things Happen”. I read this book prior to having our conversation, and was absolutely blown away and honestly had wished I would have read it 10, even 20 years sooner. One of my top three values that’s also discussed in the book is initiative, so I could really relate in terms of taking action.

We discuss finding your passion, motivation and ignorance, and the importance of not listening to naysayers, negative self talk and sabotage. We talk about the benefits of being comfortable in uncomfortable situations, as well as seeing the silver lining in all situations.

Steve and I share our breaking and turning point moments in life where we felt like we gave into our negative self talk, focused on the wrong things, and in a sense “sold out”. It was great to connect and relate to him on this growing experience in my own life.

I love Steve’s analogies and insights. I’ve taken away so much value and insight that i'll be implementing on my own path to building my good life. As Steve said, now is a beautiful time to focus on the most greatest asset you’ll ever have which is you. So when you’re ready , tune into episode 15.

Most people are unsuccessful because they’re not clear on the vision of their future and unwilling to endure the monotony of success.

Are you willing to put in the work necessary to define your future self, establish your financial number, and ultimately create the good life you desire?

If you’re inspired to get connected and learn more about  how you can start working towards manifesting your freedom goals into reality, tune into episode 14.

Vlad Kats and I have a conversation, where I learn more about his background, his 15 year journey to where he’s at today, and his accomplishments. Vlad started his journey right after graduating college as a business major, where he started working for the US government. It wasn’t until 2005, that he uncovered his love for helping people achieve their financial goals when he began working in real estate.

Today, Vlad is passionate about serving others and helping entrepreneurs grow their wealth and business through the Thrive Real Estate Network. In this community, he works with some of the top real estate business leaders on their journey as they work towards their business and freedom goals. The community is a place where these leaders can grow and learn together.

I can really resonate and connect with Vlad’s obsession to serve and the purpose behind what he does. Just like the Thrive Real Estate Network, It is my mission and passion to provide you the community to learn and grow from each other as we are all working towards operating from our future selves and building the life we desire.

Vlad and I break down the difference between flexibility and freedom, and how these analogies go hand in hand. We discuss the importance of getting clear on your future self and freedom goal, and how we can connect with other high level individuals based off our freedom number and journey. We also share the ways we are teaching these values and philosophies to our own children to help set them up for future success, change the future generation, and make an impact.

I admire Vlad’s work and how he has been able to pivot in such a short period of time. I have watched and respected him from afar and am honored to have finally been able to dig a little deeper and have this one-on-one conversation with him.

This is why I love having these conversations. They expose me to new ideas on the path to my own good life and this conversation is a perfect example. We mold into the conversations and connections we are making which is why they are crucial to the path of our desired life. When you’re ready to get connected and tune into the conversation, listen to episode 14.

You are NOT a product of your circumstances. You ARE a product of YOUR CHOICES.

Are you ready to break free from your limiting beliefs and self sabotage?

If you want to learn more about the power of perspective in overcoming challenges, and navigating through the path to joy and success in spite of adversity, tune into episode 13.

In my conversation with Tommy Sigman, I learn more about his journey, struggles, and how he has been able to persevere and achieve in his life after growing up in unfortunate circumstances. Tommy was kicked out at the age of 13, and then given a second chance after being placed in foster care. He is now thriving, having written his own book, starting a non profit, and succeeding academically in school.

Tommy shares with me how shifting his mindset, adapting gratitude, and making the best out of his situations got him through and changed the course of his life. I could really connect to this because out of my 3 core values in life, gratitude is my top priority. When you express gratitude in your life, you feel more joy, build stronger relationships, have more positive experiences, and deal with adversity.

Tommy and I take a deeper dive into the framework of his new non profit, that is designed to teach kids from low income communities and foster care the skills and resources to help them thrive psychologically and physically in life. Tommy’s passion is to help them ultimately break the ties to their earlier experiences in life, and paint a positive, clear vision for their future.

We also discuss Tommy’s book, “The Greatest Advantage”, where he shares his journey through neglect, instability, child abandonment, and getting a second chance in life through foster care and a new mindset. He shares the lessons he’s learned from these experiences in hopes to guide others to new heights of possibility, help them break past their self-sabotaging tendencies, and overcome the idea that they are a product of their circumstances.

I left my conversation with Tommy absolutely blown away by his wisdom, outlook, and successes despite the cards he has been dealt. I am truly inspired by his passion, and desire to help other children dealing with similar unfortunate circumstances. I am also passionate about guiding young adults and foster children to be set up for success in their future through Quantum Leap. I am truly excited and grateful for the opportunity to connect with him, have this powerful conversation, and be given the chance to help him on his mission in the future.

When you’re ready to take control of your mindset, perspective, and path to your future, listen to episode 13.

Do you desire a deeper relationship with those who matter most to you?

Do you understand the importance of being intentional in developing those key relationships, and having the right conversations that pull you towards the vision of your good life?

If you want to gain insight on your own key relationships, what you can do to develop and strengthen those connections, and how sweetening those relationships can really make a difference, listen to episode 12.

In my conversation with Paige Cosby, she shares her journey with me to where she’s at today; From working at Mary Kay in her early 20’s, to uncovering her passion and achieving growth and successes in the Real Estate industry today. Paige also share’s with me her leadership, motivation, successes, and personal experience in blending her and her husband’s families after forming their new marriage together.

Paige talks about her experience at BOLD, a training event that teaches real estate agents powerful tools to thrive in their business. This experience completely shifted her mindset and outlook on her blended family, and how she’s been able to adapt what she’s learned not only at home but in her business too.  We discuss how this mindset shift brought on her inspiration and creation of her passion project, Blended Bloopers, an online community for people in blended families. She’s not only been able to connect with other blended families, but she’s also been able to repair relationships within her own blended family.

Listen in to episode twelve as Paige and I go a little deeper into Blended Bloopers, the Facebook page blended between work and family, that she created around understanding the dynamics of blended families, learning to compromise, and fostering those relationships in that environment. Paige’s hope and mission is that the page will be a community where they can keep each other encouraged and mindsets lifted.

I can truly connect to Paige’s mission. Her and I are both blessed to create the conversations that are necessary to others in order for them to grow and experience new ideas and opportunities.  People grow into the conversations around them, and it’s important to show up and put yourself in the right ones that support you on the path to the life you envision.

What’s different about my conversation with Page, is that I left it wanting to adapt a whole other dimension to what “living the good life” means to me. What I have learned is that although you may have the time and resources to do what you want to do, having the right people and connections to do those things with is a crucial part in living your best life.

Paige is a lifelong friend of mine and it has been inspiring and motivating to watch her OVERCOME obstacles, even when self inflicted, along her journey. We went to school together and even rented suites in the same office park. Even with that being said, I was still able to take immense value and insight from our conversation in episode 12 that I will take away and apply to the relationships that matter most to me, my vision of the life I desire, and plans for The Mentee.

If you’re ready to take inspired action towards deepening the key relationships in your life, listen to episode 12.
